This residential building renovation in Pâquis, Geneva, addresses the structural and energy upgrade of an existing building. The original foundations showed differential settlement. The intervention therefore involved underpinning the structure to ensure long-term stability. It also included the complete replacement of the wooden floors throughout the upper levels. Wood-concrete composite slabs and concrete slabs now take their place. This operation significantly improves the building’s strength and durability.
Beyond the structural works, the building benefits from a complete renovation. It aims to enhance energy performance, as well as the quality and comfort of the interior spaces. The building comprises four residential floors, each housing three apartments. A rooftop addition delivers two further units. Commercial arcades occupy the ground floor.
All apartments now meet contemporary standards of comfort, functionality and energy efficiency. The new ground-floor shopfronts comply with current thermal requirements. The metalwork adopts a darker tone to highlight the commercial spaces. It blends harmoniously with the new render and the upper-floor window surrounds.
The new façade delivers a unified, contemporary architectural expression. It sits comfortably within its urban context and dialogues with the existing rooftop level. This residential building renovation in Pâquis, Geneva, thus combines structural performance with a refined architectural language.
